This is my personal blog. My professional website is at www.sophialangmead.com. I make wooden boxes in mixed media. Wooden boxes have fascinated me ever since I was a child. It didn't matter if they were small money boxes, writing boxes, treasure chests, sewing boxes, boxes with secret compartments, domino boxes or display boxes. The boxes could be in any condition, from broken and tatty to gleaming walnut: I loved them all. Nothing has changed: it's still the case that whenever I see a wooden box, in a junk shop or an antiques shop, at a car boot sale or at auction, I feel compelled to own it. But now that I am an adult, I've combined my love of boxes with my creativity. I lovingly restore the boxes and turn them into one-off pieces, which I sell to the people who have been kind enough to commission me. If you'd like to be one of them, you can contact me through this website. I also use bell jars, which, to me are like new worlds awaiting life.
